Title of the novel
I believe the title of the novel, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, is fitting since it incorporates the two main characters and has a title similar to that of a comic book. The front page and the title alone do a good job of expressing one of the central components of the story: comics. Adventures can easily be associated with comic books and superheroes which is central to the novel's plot. The title and cover page do a good job of foreshadowing what the reader is going to experience in the book. It hints at the idea of escapism and adventures in New York and the exciting dynamic between Sammy and Joe. The title does a good job implying that the adventures and endeavors that Joe and Sammy partake in are not normal and it reflects their relationship throughout the book. They start the book as partners working on comic books together, but they slowly begin to drift away from that partnership. They started something so big together, they made their own "superman”, and they couldn't have done it without the other and their actions and the events that took place up to this point were nothing short of exhilarating. Despite growing apart as the book progressed, their relationship is built off of the time they spent together and their initial experiences. They fought the Nazi regime together in their own special sort of way and made a life together. They did eventually go off on their own separate adventures. Joe decided to leave and join the military to fight Nazis which separated them the first time, and then Sammy decided to leave at the end which separated them once again. The title does an excellent job of reflecting the protagonists, the story revolves around them and their dynamic relationship that highlights their creativity and adventures together.
